Celebrating 2 New Ways to Impact Mental Health and Recovery

On Wednesday, September 27th, Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce to introduce our two newest mental health programs serving the Acadiana Region.  Employees and members of the community came together in celebration of Volunteers of America's ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of people living in Acadiana. Also in attendance were Volunteers of America Regional Advisory Board Members Madelyn Rosette and Phyllis Mayo.
Both programs will fill an unmet need for people living with mental illness and help them be successful in managing their mental health.  Intensive Case Management II will provide services to assist adults with connecting, coordinating and accessing services in the community based on their individual needs and goals.  Adults being discharged from a state psychiatric unit will have help transitioning back into the community with our Community Transitions Supports and Services. Personal care attendants and a behavioral shaping specialist will promote independent living and recovery, reducing the chance individuals will be readmitted.
