Child Care Resource and Referral
Volunteers of America's Partnerships In Child Care has been providing support for child care providers and parents of preschoolers since 1996. Partnerships in Child Care is the Greater Baton Rouge area's designated Resource and Referral agency and works continuously with more than 225 child care centers and 200 family home providers in Region II. Partnerships in Child Care provides support for child care providers through training and on-site technical assistance and serves as a referral source for parents looking for local child care services.
FINDING QUALITY CHILD CARE
Finding a child care provider in your community isn't the easiest thing to do, but Volunteers of America provides parents with a list of child care services, so when you do make your decision, you feel comfortable with it. Recently, Volunteers of America has become the leader in assisting the early care and education programs with our participation in the Quality Start rating system for child care centers. The rating system aims to promote environments and practices that will, in turn, promote positive learning outcomes for young children. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS FOR EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS
Partnerships in Child Care offers continuing education opportunities for employees of child care centers, Pre-K programs, Head Start programs and family child day care home providers to gain information valuable in the care of young children while fulfilling a licensing requirement. A wide variety of age-specific training sessions are offered throughout the year. To view the current training schedule, click here. The training sessions focus on knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary for the early care and education professional to encourage young children to develop to their fullest potential. Hands on experience through demonstrations and activities engage the participants in active learning. From July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010 Partnerships in Child Care hosted 335 educational training workshops for 3,074 participants. During the same time period, the program also assisted 402 families in locating appropriate child care settings for their children.
