Therapeutic Foster Care
Become a Therapeutic Foster Parent!
You have the power to make a difference in the life of a child. In the state of Louisiana alone, there are over 5,000 children in the foster care system including many who are waiting to be placed within a family home.
Volunteers of America is seeking responsible, caring adults who are ready to make this commitment. We arrange therapeutic foster placements for children with additional physical or emotional impairments and/or behavioral issues.
The certification process normally takes 3 to 4 months which includes orientation, 36 hours of training, a home study and background screenings. Respite families are also needed, although the certification process is the same.
