Housing and Homeless Services
Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge began in 1921 as a family shelter. Today its programs have grown to meet the changing needs of South Lousiana. Volunteers of America provides a range of services designed to meet people where they are and encourages them to play an active role in their own recovery. In Baton Rouge, case management and basic needs are administered through outreach and a drop-in center.
Volunteers of America's PATH program provides assertive outreach services for homeless individuals with severe mental illness in Lafayette Parish. A Homeless Coordinator is on staff to advocate for appropriate services for these individuals.
Transitional and permanent housing is available for individuals, families and veterans. Our Housing First Programs help families get into housing first without losing their way in a shelter.
