VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS COVID-19 UPDATE
The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and their interaction with the general public.
We are concerned about the spread of the novel coronavirus as the people we serve are typically more vulnerable to the virus and the disease it causes, COVID-19. Because the coronavirus is spreading quickly, we have decided to suspend group volunteer activities throughout our programs (Bingo, crafts, and music groups) as a precaution. We are staying abreast of the latest developments about coronavirus.
We are also suspending any volunteer projects that require a volunteer to prepare home-made treats or snacks to be dropped off and served to our consumers. This includes Sundaes on Sunday, Bake a Sweet treat and Snack bag projects. See your region for specific details.
Our founders, Maud and Ballington Booth, and other early members of our organization came to call themselves Volunteers of America because they volunteered their whole lives to help people in need. Today, our volunteers continue this tradition by volunteering their time, hearts, and spirits. Last year, 1,800 volunteers provided 8,800 hours of service to expand our ability to serve South Louisiana. Without their help, we could not do what we do.
Please see below for a list of our current volunteer opportunities. For some opportunities, an orientation, training, and a background check/references may be required.
